Name: Nix'Xel
Age: 22
Gender: Male.
Affiliation: The Aranid Throne
Profession: Ice Mage
Inventory/Important Possessions: A bayonetted crossbow with a quiver of Scarlet Steel bolts. Several books of Aranid literature.
Personality: Nix'Xel is a leader who is not afraid to use questionable ethics to achieve his goals. Along with that, he is quite secretive when in public, especially since he's the only non-human in the valley. Otherwise, he can be quite talkative and open about knowledge-seeking and cultures.
Appearance: Nix'Xel's chitin is dark blackish-blue, and all over him are bright blue markings, which are genetically passed down by the mother of the brood. He has the regular eight eyes, two of which are on the back of his head. One dark purple pupil slides a full 360 degrees among his many eyes to give him several perspectives, which is an advantage in battle. Two fangs, and two chitinous eyebrows and eyelids allow him to express emotion. His clothes are a black and dark purple vestments with a cowl that has a dark green arcane gem inside of it. Usually, he has his arms folded and hidden within his robes, but upon entering combat he can pull them out to use his crossbow and spells, or grab useful objects. A satchel that matches the exact color is slung across his chest.
History: Nix was born into the Xel brood, alongside 49 other siblings. Part of Aranid culture is to leave the children with food, water, and shelter, and then let them experience life and learn from there, often encouraging rivalry and a wish for superiority. However, unlike most families, his was very united. They worked in order to gain strength and knowledge to become overall better than any other Aranids, and it was this mentality that had brought them success. Nix was, out of all of them, the second in command, relaying orders and suggestions to his fellows. With their synergy, they burned through dozens of books and became excellent fighters in melee and ranged combat, and then they realized they had magic capabilities. This was because their father was a Seer, an Aranid with intense amounts of magic power, so it was only reasonable for this to happen. All fifty of them split into different groups of magic schooling; Nix and five others chose Ice. After they had all come of age, their parents were disappointed how much they depended on one another for success, so they sent them on pilgrimages to several locations across Zylheim, with one order: bring back something valuable or be punished. Nix was sent to Mynic Valley to hopefully locate a magic artifact of intense power...
