Paldonna stares at the water before them. "We could just float across on as couple of logs... If we got a bit wet, it wouldn't be as bad as swimming..."

(Alright, we're continuing. But nothing major while some people aren't online, just some banter and raft-creating.)
Vellian looked at Palid, and then nodded, making the same motion soon afterwards towards Paldonna.
"Then we'll use the bandit's axe, get a few logs and try to float across. We'll be safe unless there are monsters living in the lake."
Just saying that quote got her to think about any horrors that could wait if they weren't careful, and she shuddered lightly. None of them had monster codexes on them, which was bad news since they would have increasing trouble traveling the land without previous knowledge. She simply turned around for a moment and gazed across the lake, and then into its depths.

Paldonna looked at the lake, then the trees around them. "I'm no woodcarver, but as long as we could tie a couple logs together to hold a couple people each, we might be fine... Or we won't be if there are, 'like you said, monsters..."

Vellian scanned the water in front of them with her eyes, slowly narrowing. She dipped a gauntlet into it and shook her head.
"Now that I think of it.. maybe going around may be the best option. Making a raft could take up more time than just bypassing the lake by walking around its shore."

Palid Nods.
"This.. is... at best a wood splitting ax, not a lumber saw." He waves his ax he stole.

Paldonna stabs her partially stolen spear in the soggy dirt. "Well we should get going either way... By the time we get there, the beast will have gotten away."

Paldonna tapped her bare foot on the wet lake shore, looking up at the foggy night sky. She glances both directions the group could go if they were to go around the lake and headed to her right. From what she could see, at least there was some sort of ending in the distance.

Atherius, doing his usual humming, walked down the river's path as they all came to a decision between their quad-gathering. His armor clanking as he walked, witch stones causing a jingle and tune as they slid down, followed by the cracking of twigs beneath his boots. Whistling back to them in a sharp tune, he waved at them to inform them he was moving on down the path! And with that, he turned and continued to march; whether they followed or not. He had faith in this crew, definitely!

Paldonna followed after him. He seemed to have some sense... from what she'd seen at least. She dragged her spear along the grand, as though making a trail to fall back on.

The brothers go to follow the heavily armored man, he is their best hope in this hunt, hoping the man sticks to the shallows or goes around the river.

Paldonna simply looks over her shoulder at the other two. "Oi! Don't step in my line!" She says. "That's incase we get lost."

Vellian quickly dashed to keep up with the others, trying to take second or first place within the train of people. As they kept walking, she decided to ask them a question, to lighten the mood (which so far, the only morale booster was Atherius' humming.)
"What monsters do you know that live in lakes?"
Of course, going around was going to take some time. There was a definite 'other side' that you could see, just it was far, maybe a mile or so to get completely around. Vellian was anxious and on the lookout, trying to see if any creature dare interrupt their travels.

Paldonna 'hmph'ed. "I'm a land hunter, not a water hunter... I've just heard legends of sea serpents, but that's in the oceans afar."

Palid responds, ever the book worm.
"I'm s... at..... at least ten?" Being a studious scholar if poor would he know of any monsters in this world that live in lakes.

Vellian kept trekking onwards, responding to Palid without turning back to face him.
"Well! List these creatures for me, and describe them."
She says that in a sarcastic-ish voice, not believing him at all.

Paldonna sharply turns around. "Watch the line." She says, pointing at the rather thin, shallow line her new spear was making. "If we get lost out here, I'm not getting stuck."

Palid just recites stuff from fairy tales, books, reports of people in the outlands, but clearly never seen one, just books and stories.

Paldonna glances over her shoulder at Palid. "You seem like the book-reader type..." She says plainly.
