Nix'Xel quickly summoned an ice shard like a dagger between his fingers, using it to cut the binds before letting it dissipate. Upon hearing her second question, however, he blinks at her.
"Our father felt like we relied too much on each other."
He kept walking on, but he was turned towards Triana.

Triana blinked in return that he was walking backwards. She shook her head to stop her stare and rubbed her wrists.
"Er, sank you. And isn't relying on ozzers good? It shows trust." She hurried to catch up with him. "Shouldn't you watch 'ere you are going? You could run into somesing."

He shook his head, pupil moving about his head, checking his surroundings as he walked.
"According to our father, relying on each other showed weakness, because in that way we might not be so lucky if one were to die, or we were not in the company of others."
The purple orb within his eyes stared a single second, before turning back forward. That way, it would look like he was talking to Triana directly, but instead he was seeing in front of him.

Blinked several times at the moving pupil.
"Oh." She replied simply. She was a little bit slower to walk with him as she had to keep an eye of were she stepped so she didn't trip of end up having her dress snagged by a bush.

The Aranid simply nodded at her response, keeping his pace forward while looking in case there was an ambush of some sort. His arms were still hidden within his robes as he usually did, giving him a royal and mysterious look as he moved onwards. Nix'Xel obviously wasn't heading in the direction of Gascon- but instead going southeast.

Triana didn't know which way was north or south - she had a sack over her head when she was kidnapped. And she wasn't that great at navigating stars. She looked around before speaking which she was often uneasy to do.
"Er... 'ere are we going, monsieur...?"

"To the Kingdom of Svenitsa."
He responded at an astonishingly fast rate, as soon as she said 'where'.
"It is where my pilgrimage is. I must find something of magical value there."
He turned to her for a moment, then kept looking onward as they walked.

"S-svenitsa...?" Triana said with a bit of a stutter. That didn't sound like her home town. She opened her mouth to ask if they could go back to Gascon first but being shy, she didn't.

"It was only settled a mere hundred years ago. To get inside, we will have to pass through mountains that are of cold temperature, which was the original reason few dared come there."
Nothing changed with him, he just kept walking whilst answering Triana's questions.

"Zen 'y are we going zere if it is so cold? Why not just go to Gascon? Zere has to be somesing... eh... magical zere?" Triana preferably wanted to go home instead of on a dangerous chase for some magical item.

"I was not told to go there. And I dare not question my father's orders."
He gave a slight glare to her, but it resided after a while and he shrugged.
"But, if you want to go to the lands of Gascon so badly, you do not need me, hm?"
Specifically, his pilgrimage was to go fetch an artifact or something of great magical power in Svenitsa, and he was no liar or trickster. He was seriously dedicated to this quest, because even Aranids get homesick after some time.

"I, er..." She didn't feel that great about trying to get back to Gascon by herself. After all she was kidnapped. That's the only reason she was out here. But she knew her father would be worried sick if he already wasn't. She also knew it would be a terrible fate to be eaten by wolves. Triana kept that debating look before going silent and staring at the ground. She wasn't one to argue, and not really with anyone, including a fanged magical aranid.

Nix'Xel chuckled lightly and kept walking forward, taking in the look of the nearby terrain. He had never been to deciduous forests before, as all the plants in his land were moss, lichen, berry bushes and pine trees. He had a habit of turning something such as walking into entertainment just by observing what was around him, and since he was not the best of conversationalists he didn't try to say anything else.

Triana was already shy on her own and so didn't say anything else either. She silently questioned whether she should try and find her way back home or stay with this newly found person. The thoughts of her father worrying and wolves attacking her were still very fresh and uneasing thoughts. She shook her head trying to quit her worrying and focus on not falling over something as in the process she nearly tripped. Triana paused to study her surroundings for a moment before hurrying after Nix'xel again. Then a curious question struck her mind. "Er... M-monsieur..." Triana started. She was raised to be proper, but she didn't know know what was proper or courteous to Aranids. She stumbled a moment for wording, and being plainly a quiet person didn't help. "I-er... Are 'ou nocturnal...?"

"I can be, if I want to."
Nix'xel stopped moving after answering Triana's question.

Triana stopped in her tracks. Had she said something to offend him that made him stop? Or was it something else? She looked around nervously waiting for his next reaction.

He shook his head and kept moving, still keeping his arms concealed in his robe as he kept going. Nix'xel walked with some sort of odd grace, avoiding any objects that might trip him but still doing so with precise and steady movements that seemed mechanical.

Triana just focused on keeping up. She was probably very opposite of his avoiding grace; she had to stumble over sticks and bushes, making sure her foot didn't catch in any snagging ivy, and attempting to see in the dark. Plus, they were in the forest, so trees probably blocked out a lot of moonlight so that didn't help.

It was about then that the trees slowly but surely disappeared, and they were rising in altitude. The temperature was quickly dropping, and it was easy to see that they were at the base of the large chain of mountains that guarded the land.

Triana stumbled after Nix'Xel' still, trying to keep up. The sudden drop of temperature sent shivers through her as she followed along. "Did 'ou ever say why you needed ze artifact...?"
